Vryburger thrilled with increase in matric pass rate

Hoërskool Vryburger High School learners receive their matric results.

Ian Olivier, principal of Hoërskool Vryburger High School, was thrilled with the school’s 2019 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results.

“The school achieved an 87.5 per cent pass rate, a 14.2 per cent increase from last year,” he said.

“We congratulate our learners and thank our teachers for their hard work throughout the year.”

The school had 109 learners sit for the exams, with 29 achieving bachelor’s passes, 45 diploma passes and 17 higher certificate passes.

The school was thrilled to achieve a 100 per cent pass rate in several subjects, including consumer studies, computer application technology, life orientation and accounting.

Thulani Mathebula, Gabriella Lundie and Tswanelo Ndlela were the school’s top achievers.

With the positive results Olivier and his staff now look to the future.

“I am very optimistic about the year ahead,” he said.

“I am sure, despite having a very large 2020 matric group, we will be able to make the 90 per cent pass rate mark.”
