Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston learners excited about matric results

Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston learners celebrated as they finally received the results of their National Senior Certificate exams.

The day finally arrived for matric learners from Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston to receive their National Senior Certificate (NSC) results, on Wednesday.

Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston learners and staff celebrated a pass rate of 95 per cent.

“We are very happy and satisfied with our learners,” said Retha du Toit, principal of Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston.

“It is due to the dedication and hard work of the learners and the educators, as well as the support of the parents.”

Among the 104 learners who wrote the exams, 65 learners received their bachelor’s passes and 27 learners received diploma passes.

The school also received 56 distinctions.

Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston’s top achievers were Jenna Lingenfelder, Thato Nyokong and Ettienne de Jager.

Lingenfelder received five distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, computer applications technology and life sciences.

Nyokong also received five distinctions in mathematics, life sciences, life orientation, accounting and physical science.

Head boy for 2019, de Jager, received four distinctions in Afrikaans, life orientation, engineering graphics and design and computer applications technology.

“I am very proud of my results,” said de Jager.

“I was unsure when I wrote one of my exams, but I felt very confident about the rest, and when I was done I realised the stress was unnecessary.”

Although some learners did not make it, there is still an opportunity in June for them to write supplementary examinations.

“It is not the end of the road, and there is still a bright future out there for everybody who is willing to work hard and persevere,” said du Toit.

“We congratulate all the learners and wish them all the best for the future.”
