Lucky Milina wins a car

Ackermans Pharmacy was a hub of activity as lucky winners were drawn in the annual ‘Win a Car’ competition.

Twelve finalists waited in anticipation outside Ackermans Pharmacy in Rietfontein Road, in Primrose, recently, to find out if they would be the lucky winner in the pharmacy’s annual ‘Win a Car’ competition.

The competition, now in its 12th year, ran between October 1 and December 13, and was open to customers who spent R150 or more at the pharmacy and placed their till slip in the entry box.

“We hold this competition annually to give something back to our loyal customers,” said Karen Engelbrecht on behalf of the pharmacy.

One finalist was drawn at random each week of the competition, and two finalists in the final week.

Master of ceremonies Martin de Waal kept the crowd gathered outside the pharmacy entertained as the finalists drew their keys and waited to be called to try and open the bright red Suzuki Swift, which was up for grabs.

Finalists, who were called up one at a time, opened their envelopes containing a key, and walked over to the car where they tried to open the driver’s door.

Milina Dube, who joked that her key was the winning key, could hardly believe it when her key was in fact the winning key.

“I am still in shock, but so excited,” Dube said, as she celebrated with her husband Morris Bila and son Delroy (2).

The excitement didn’t end there as there were three cash prizes up for grabs.

Owen Zaranyika won R20 000 (second prize), Johan de Wet won R15 000 (third prize) and Miguel Peres won R10 000 (fourth prize).

The remaining finalists didn’t walk away empty-handed as they each received R2 500 in cash.

“Thank you for participating in and support our competition,” said store owner and pharmacist Jan van Wyk.

“We need our customers as much as they need us.”
