Robbery victim warns others to be alert

After being robbed while out shopping, Dinwiddie resident warns others to be careful.

Dinwiddie resident Susan Kuhn was devastated after she was robbed when visiting the Albemarle Shopping Centre, in Albemarle over the festive season.

Her and her husband Aubrey were in one of the shops chatting to a sales assistant when a man entered the store.

She told the GCN she could remember that he was of average height, but she did not see his face.

Upon entering he bumped into her and she lost her balance.

“He grabbed my handbag, but as it was securely over my shoulder he couldn’t get it, however, he managed to take my tablet and my cellphone which were in my hand,” a distraught Susan said.

Her tablet was new and a gift from her son Aubrey Jnr.

After the theft, the couple ran after the man and saw him jump into a red Suzuki with no number plates.

They tried to follow the vehicle, but lost it.

During the robbery, Susan suffered a scratch on her arm and she is now extremely scared to leave the house.

Susan wants to warn other shoppers to be alert in order to avoid the same thing happening to them.

“Make sure you are aware of your surroundings and the people around you and be careful with your valuables,” she said.
