ANCYL in Ward 39 puts school children first

Give children a helping hand ahead of the new school year.

The first day of school is just around the corner for children in the city, but for many parents it comes with the added stress of having to pay for their back-to-school necessities.

With this in mind, the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in Ward 39 has embarked on a #Back2School Campaign.

“Our aim with this campaign is to support underprivileged children and supply them with school shoes, a school bag and stationery for the new school year,” explained Prince Rulashe, ANCYL Ward 39 chairperson.

“We decided to launch this project as many parents cannot afford to buy school supplies and this can make it difficult for children when they return to school.

“We want to ensure we bring dignity to the poor and underprivileged so they can look forward to the new year of school and obtain a good education.”

Rulashe urged local businesses and companies to get involved in the campaign by donating school shoes, a school bag and stationery.

“The cut-off date for donation submissions is January 10,” said Rulashe.

“Furthermore, if you know of a child in need of a back-to-school pack contact me with the relevant information.”
