Elsburg SAPS arrest man on burglary charge

Elsburg SAPS apprehend suspect in connection with Christmas eve burglary.

Elsburg police recently arrested a man on a charge of business burglary.

The incident was first reported to police on Christmas eve by the business owner.

“The owner explained that he had closed his business as normal, ensuring all doors were closed and locked properly,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg police.

“He claimed when one of his employees arrived the next morning, they found the door had allegedly been damaged.”

During an inspection of the salon, it was discovered several items had been taken.

“Officers from the Elsburg Police Station were able to arrest the suspect who was linked to the crime after a short investigation,” said Phooko.

The suspect was held at the Elsburg Police Station.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
