Men allegedly found with drugs in Elsburg

The Elsburg police apprehended two men each on a charge of possession of drugs and possession of dagga.

While on patrol last Friday, Elsburg SAPS Sector One manager Const Erin Palmer and communications officer for the Elsburg police Const Daphney Phooko noticed two men acting suspiciously.

“The two men, aged 18 and 24 years, were seen standing against a wall near the corner of Egret and Ibis streets,” said Phooko.

“When they noticed officers approaching them one of the suspects went to the nearby wall and attempted to throw away a packet, believed to contain drugs.

“He then allegedly tried to hide a packet of dagga behind a poster stuck to the wall.”

The men were arrested, each on a charge of possession of drugs and possession of dagga.

“They were held at the Elsburg Police Station pending their appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court,” said Phooko.
