Tip-off leads to arrest

Primrose police apprehend suspect on a charge of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

While on patrol, last Sunday, officers from the Primrose Police Station received a tip-off about an alleged stolen vehicle being stripped for parts in the Marathon informal settlement.

Police rushed to the address given.

“When police arrived on scene they found a 31-year-old man allegedly removing parts from a vehicle,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“When he saw the officers the suspect became visibly nervous.

“He was questioned about the vehicle, but could not give a clear explanation about who it belonged to or why he was removing parts from it.”

He was arrested on a charge of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

The suspect has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
