Leaders, teachers treat the elderly to Christmas fun

Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston’s project sees elderly being treated to Christmas cheer.

There was fun, laughter and music at SAVF Die Anker Tehuis last Tuesday.

The reason? Senior citizens were treated to a wonderful morning of Christmas fun by the 2020 leaders and a number of teachers from Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston.

The leaders and teachers got together and donated gifts for each resident of Die Anker to hand out on the day.

They also left a few extras to be handed out to those residents who would be alone on Christmas Day.

Elize Rudolph, the teacher responsible for organising the project, told the GCN that eats were provided by a number of teachers who baked cakes, as well as her friend Doreen Kilburn, who baked up a storm.

The elderly residents were thrilled to receive the personalised gifts and they waited excitedly for their names to be called.

They were also treated to the beautiful piano playing of Ina Dreyer who played a variety of Christmas carols and other tunes.

She was accompanied on vocals by Franco Gagiano, and Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston learners Megan Hubble and Gabriella Nel.

The young leaders enjoyed spending time with the elderly.
