Woman arrested with suspected looted goods

Germiston SAPS members arrested a woman after discovering suspected stolen goods.

While on patrol recently, Germiston SAPS Task Team members received information that there was a person selling allegedly stolen goods at a house in Elsburg Road.

“The goods were suspected to have been looted from shops in the Germiston CBD,” said Const Maxwell Mabunda, communications officer for the Germiston SAPS.

“They acted swiftly and when they arrived at the address they found a 32-year-old woman.

“They introduced themselves and asked to search the yard, where they discovered that she was selling goods.”

She could not explain to the police where she had obtained the goods.

The police discovered a refrigerator, four laptops bearing the Department of Education’s emblem, a desk top, 10 empty 250litre containers smelling of diesel and two which were full of diesel and four duvets.

The estimated value of the goods is R30 000.

The woman was arrested on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.
