Katlehong SAPS attempts to curb crime in its precinct

Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

Twelve suspects were arrested over the weekend in Katlehong.

Officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and EMPD, held several crime-prevention operations in the area over the weekend, which led to the arrests.

The operations were held between November 29 and December 1.

The accused were charged with several different offences.

Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, domestic violence, theft, shoplifting, dealing in drugs, interfering with police duties and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza was pleased with the arrests made, and wished the community a safe festive season as December begins.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
