Gender-based violence issue tackled in Katlehong North

The community of Katlehong North leant more about gender-based violence during a recent community awareness campaign.

To address issues of gender-based violence in their precinct, the Katlehong North SAPS held a special community awareness campaign.

During the recent campaign, attended by social workers from across Ekurhuleni, community patrollers, members of various faith-based organisations and men from the local community, a number of serious issues were discussed.

Topics included:

• Talking about your anger.

• How to control your anger.

• Accepting yourself.

• Maintenance and supporting your children.

• Identifying the cause of anger and knowing when you need help.

• Talking about problems within your marriage.

• Alcohol, drugs and other substance abuse.

• Managing your expectations.

One thousand safety tip pamphlets were distributed to community members during the awareness campaign.

The safety tip pamphlets offered the community advice and tips on how to deal with and report substance abuse, sexual offences and domestic violence.
