Woman escapes alleged attack by her husband

Primrose police apprehend man on a charge of domestic violence.

Primrose police arrested a 34-year-old man on a charge of domestic violence, last Saturday.

The arrest was made in Heath Avenue after the suspect’s wife opened a case against him.

“The victim told officers that she was at home when her husband arrived, allegedly under the influence of alcohol,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose SAPS.

“She further alleged that without any provocation he began assaulting her.

“The complainant managed to free herself and reported the incident to the police.”

The man was arrested and held at the Primrose Police Station.

“We take incidents of gender-based violence very seriously,” said Maome.

The suspect has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
