Residents fuming over mess left by municipality

The owners of RA’s Sports Bar and Restaurant and its customers are fed-up with the damaged pavement left after metro employees worked in the area.

Sunnyridge residents are fuming at the performance of the municipality.

While replacing an electricity pole outside RA’s Sports Bar and Restaurant in Porter Avenue, Sunnyridge, they left the pavement in a bad state of disrepair.

Customers have come to Annetjie Holland, who with her husband Robbie, own RA’s Sports Bar and Restaurant, complaining about the danger they could potentially be in when trying to walk on the pavement to enter the establishment.

“The pole was replaced by the Energy Department, and we will repair the pavement by December 20,” said Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the metro.

Annetjie and Robbie have not only been waiting since June for the problem to be solved, but they also have been told by their customers that they will sue them if someone gets hurt by tripping on the damaged pavement or if their cars are damaged by someone tripping and falling onto them.

“I get told by our customers that we should fix the pavement, but I told them that we are inside and not outside and the municipality should be fixing the problems they are making outside,” said Annetjie.

This has also allegedly caused RA’s Sports Bar and Restaurant to lose customers.
