Police arrest three, close three taverns and confiscate alcohol

Primrose police continued their fight against the illegal sale of alcohol.

Primrose police visited Delport informal settlement, last weekend, in an operation aimed at curbing the illegal sale of alcohol.

During the operation officers closed three illegal taverns, arrested three suspects, aged between 28 and 38 years old, and confiscated volumes of alcohol.

“The suspects were each arrested on a charge of dealing in liquor without a licence after they were unable to provide police with their liquor licences when requested to do so,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The suspects were detained at the Primrose Police Station.

They were all later released with warnings after paying admission of guilt fines.
