EMPD choir scoops top awards at choral competition

The EMPD choir achieved first place in choral competition.

Council was abuzz with jubilation and songs on Thursday as the EMPD choir joined the proceedings. The EMPD choir is well-known for performing at the metro’s official events and assisting with maintaining stately decorum during ceremonies.

During the announcement segment, the speaker, Alde Patricia Kumalo, sent out a congratulatory message to the choir on their outstanding performance at the Gauteng Choral Association competition.

The choir secured first place in both the Vernacular Song and Western Song categories and were crowned overall winners of the competition.

“The EMPD ensemble is our flagship choir in the city.

“We are so proud of your outstanding achievement and wish you nothing but the best going forward,” she said.
