Twenty-one suspects netted in weekend operations

Katlehong police share their weekend successes.

Twenty-one suspects were arrested by the Katlehong police during several weekend operations.

The operations were carried out between September 26 and 28 by officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD.

 The accused were charged with various offences.

Charges included:

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 3

• Common assault: 3

• Domestic violence: 2

• Possession of drugs: 3

• Intimidation: 2

• Sexual assault: 1

• Shoplifting: 1

• Theft: 1

• Warrant of arrest: 1

• Driving under the influence of alcohol: 7.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for a number of different reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Brig Sammy Thambo was pleased with the arrests made over the weekend.
However, he remains concerned by the number of serious crimes being reported.
