Man allegedly rapes ex-girlfriend, threatens to kill her

Primrose police apprehended a man on a charge of rape.

While asleep with her boyfriend in their Marathon informal settlement shack last Saturday, a woman heard a loud knock on the door.

“The woman’s 30-year-old ex-boyfriend allegedly ordered the couple to open the door,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“When they refused he reportedly forced his way into the shack, grabbed the woman and threatened the man with a screwdriver when he attempted to help.

“The suspect allegedly dragged the woman back to his shack where he ordered her to undress, when she refused he reportedly torn off her clothes and forced himself on her.”

The accused allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she reported the incident to the police.

“When the suspect left for work the next day the woman was able to escape and reported the crime to police,” said Maome.

The man was later arrested on a charge of rape.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for a bail application.
