Look after yourself and others in the heat

Heed these safety tips when tackle hot weather.

Winter is a thing of the past making way for hot spring days, with this in mind ER24 is urging people to be cautious.

Especially as school holidays are around the corner and many people will be out and about.

They are urging residents to reconsider their plans if it involves being outdoors for long periods of time.

 

People are urged to remember that heat exhaustion can lead to serious complications.

Severe heat exhaustion could lead to heatstroke and that may, in turn, result in a person losing consciousness, experiencing seizures or going into cardiac arrest.

ER24 is urging people to monitor those who are experiencing a severe headaches, weakness or disorientation, muscle cramps, nausea or vomiting or severe thirst.

Symptoms may also include the absence of sweating due to dehydration and confusion.

If these symptoms persist, medical assistance should be sought as soon as possible.
