Criminality reigns and chaos erupts as Germiston CBD is looted

Chaos and violence erupted in the city recently. Parts of the Germiston CBD were eerily quiet recently with shops lining the inner-city streets locked up tight, while in other areas gunshots rang out. Even the Golden Walk, which is usually packed with customers, was closed, with roller doors blocking each entrance.

Be alert and aware when entering or leaving your property

The Primrose SAPS is urging residents to take special precautions. “We are appealing to the community to be careful, especially when entering or leaving their premises,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Katlehong North SAPS monitors precinct after violence flares up

The Katlehong North SAPS has been on high alert since violence flared up in the area. To date, 64 suspects have been arrested on charges of public violence.

Widespread power outage affects Germiston

Germiston residents were affected by a widespread power outage in the city on Thursday. Clr Wendy Morgan, the ward councillor for Ward 36, told the GCN that the energy department said the power failure affected many parts of the city and restoration time was estimated at about three hours.

Katlehong SAPS nets several criminals

Thirty suspects were arrested by the Katlehong police during several weekend operations. The operations were carried out between September 6 and 8 by officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD.
