“Officers spotted the vehicle at a local petrol station,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“They tried to stop the vehicle, but the occupants opened fire on the officers and sped away.

“After a brief chase police were able to stop the vehicle in Solheim.”

Three men, aged between 33 and 42 years old, were arrested while a fourth fled the scene with the firearm used to shoot at police.

“A toy gun was found in the Jetta during a search of the vehicle,” said Maome.

“Reports indicate that a second vehicle was also used in the crime.”
