Jaws of Life used to free woman trapped in car on N12 highway

Netcare 911 responded to the scene of an accident on the N12.

Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the N12 highway near Kraft Road in Germiston at 8.12am on Wednesday.

Reports from the scene indicated that two trucks and a car were involved in a collision.

“Medics assessed the scene and found that the 30-year-old female driver of the car had sustained minor injuries,” said Shawn Herbst, media liaison officer for Netcare Limited Netcare 911.

Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) used specialised hydraulic tools (Jaws of Life) to free the patient from the vehicle.

Once stabilised, the patient was transported by private ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
