Update: Some areas still without water as reservoirs fill

Metro urges residents to use water sparingly as system recovers after outage.

The metro has urged residents to patient as reservoirs in the area are filled.

This comes after a three-day water outage, caused by a burst Rand Water pipeline.

“We are still receiving a steady supply of water from Rand Water,” said spokesperson for the metro Themba Gadebe.

“However, reservoirs in Germiston, Primrose, Kempton Park, Bonaero Park and Alberton are still in the process of being filled.

“We are still unable to pump from Windsor Street or Dawnview as the required level has not been reached, so we are appealing to community members in these areas to use water sparingly till the reservoirs are filled.”

There is, unfortunately, no estimated time for completion of this process.

Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan further advised that Sunnyridge, Sunnyrock, Solheim, Symhurst, and parts of Gerdview and Primrose are experiencing similar problems.

“I have requested that water still be available at the Sunnyridge Circle for residents without water,” said Morgan.

“I know everyone is frustrated but unfortunately the flow of the water cannot be rushed.”
