UPDATE: Elsburg police investigate double murder in Mimosa Park

Following the death of two Mimosa Park residents in their home, the Elsburg SAPS has launched a double murder case investigation.

The Elsburg police have confirmed they are investigating a double murder case in Mimosa Park.

This comes after the discovery of two dead bodies in a house in Rautenbach Street on Monday.

The gardener of the residence called the police after seeing blood that had seeped out from under the kitchen door.

“Upon arrival, police officers found the body of a man, aged 56, lying in a pool of blood in one of the bedrooms, and the body of a woman, aged 60, lying behind the kitchen door,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg police.

“We recovered a knife on the scene.

“Furthermore, we interviewed the son, who was on scene, and he alleged that his mother phoned his wife three weeks ago informing her that she had had an argument with her nephew, whom she resided with.

“At this stage we do not know the cause of death for both victims.”

The Elsburg SAPS station commander, Col Linah Thethe, said the Elsburg police will leave no stone unturned during their probe into this matter.

The police have called on anyone who might have vital information to assist them with the ongoing investigation to call the Elsburg SAPS on 071 675 6894 or SAPS Crime Stop on 10111.
