Police send warning to community

Community warned to be on the lookout for two men allegedly stealing cellphones in Primrose.

Primrose police are warning the community to be on the lookout for two men who are allegedly robbing jobseekers of their cellphones.

The men are reportedly operating in Rietfontein Road.

“The two middle-aged men, one with a scar on his left cheek, will allegedly approach people looking for jobs and ask them to place their cellphone in a brown envelope which is sealed once the phone is inside,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The victim is then told to go home and only open the envelope when they get home.

“When the victim opens the envelop they discover their phone has been taken and replaced with a piece of wood.

“We are appealing to our community not to trust unknown individuals too quickly as people can take advantage of this trust.”
