Man allegedly found with nyaope in Primrose

Primrose police apprehended a man on a charge of possession of drugs.

While on patrol last Sunday in Riefontein Road, a known drug hot spot, officers from the Primrose Police Station noticed a man acting suspiciously.

They approached the 28-year-old man, who was leaning against a wall smoking a cigarette, introduced themselves and asked if they could search him.

“During the search officers found a brown plastic bag containing a suspicious substance in his front right pocket,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The accused allegedly admitted to police the substance was nyaope.”

The man was arrested on a charge of possession of drugs.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
