Children enjoy entertainment and visits from various companies for Mandela Day

Much-needed medical, food and clothing donations and live entertainment spoils for local school.

Ithembelihle Lsen School relished visits from a number of companies last week amid Nelson Mandela Day celebrations.

The school welcomed Voith and Smiley Kids Primrose to their school last Wednesday and Reckitt Benckiser last Thursday.

Voith assisted with lunch servings at the school and arranged soup and rolls for learners as their 67 minutes for Mandela Day.

The company currently sponsors the medication and doctor services for the school, as well as assists with facility improvements of the school’s hostel.

Learners from Smiley Kids Primrose prepared a lively performance for the learners of Ithembelihle Lsen School as their participation in the 67 minutes for Mandela Day initiative, as well as food and clothing donations.

Smiley Kids Primrose set to lift the learners’ spirits with sprightly song and dance performances during their visit, accompanied by food and clothing donations.

Reckitt Benckiser gave a hygiene talk at the school to promote physical cleanliness and the importance of vigorously washing your hands.

Bohlokwa Radebe learnt the importance of washing his hands vigorously, through completing a hygiene challenge with Lovell Barris from Reckitt Benckiser on Mandela Day.

“We are passionate about hygiene and we’ve created this activation that enables us to spread the importance of cleanliness in an effort to eradicate germs and possible illnesses,” said Cindy Jansen-de Jonge, facilities manager of Reckitt Benckiser.

“At this age, children’s brains are like sponges. If we can teach them to regularly wash their hands, it becomes a habit which they can carry into adulthood.”
