Fresh coat of paint brings dignity to families

Members of the ANC and ANC Youth League in Ward 39 dedicate their Mandela Day to helping families in need in Elsburg.

In honour of Mandela Day on Thursday, members of the ANC and ANC Youth League in Ward 39 dedicated their time to improving the lives of 10 families in need.

The team, led by Prince Rulashe (ANCYL), Amos Masetlwa (ANC secretary) and Maguesta Setona (executive committee member of a branch of the ANC – BEC), spent the day painting and renovating a dilapidated building in Els Road, Elsburg, which is home to a number of destitute families.

“We have known about the building for a while and are not happy with the conditions that the people live in,” explained Prince.

“We decided to paint and renovate the place to bring some dignity to the families who live there.”

The team’s efforts didn’t stop there.

“We have committed ourselves to following up with council to find a better solution for housing,” said Prince.

Prince thanked Elsburg Building Materials for the donation of paint.

“A special thank you also goes to Ntombi Seekete, Amos and Maguesta,” said Prince.
