PRINT EXCLUSIVE: Elsburg police bid a fond farewell to colleague

After 35 years and 136 days, Det-Capt Mphenduleni Michael Makhaye retires from the South African Police Service.

After serving in the South African Police Service for 35 years, 60-year-old Det-Capt Mphenduleni Michael Makhaye, hung up his badge last Monday.

Makhaye started his career in the municipal police force in 1984, in Thokoza.

The force was incorporated into the South African Police which later became the South African Police Service after the transition into democracy.

Seeking to climb up through the ranks and fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a detective, Makhaye participated in self-development courses which helped him soar closer to his dream, and on March 25, 1994, he became a constable.
