Two more critical deputy director posts in EMPD operations division filled

Two come through the ranks to attain top positions in EMPD.

Two experienced officers, who between them have amassed 45 years of experience in law enforcement, were recently appointed in deputy director posts in the EMPD operations division.

Both newly appointed deputy directors have worked themselves up through the ranks from constable to inspector, to superintendent, to chief superintendent and now deputy directors.

The appointments were with effect from June 1.

Deputy director Bob Tokelo Motshabi started working at the erstwhile Boksburg Traffic Department as a traffic warden in 1995.

In 2000 he obtained his metro police diploma as a constable and was promoted to an inspector in 2003.

Motshabi became a superintendent in 2006 and obtained another promotion to chief superintendent in 2014 until he was elevated to deputy director in June.

Motshabi at the time of his promotion to the deputy director post was the precinct commander of Germiston.

As a deputy director he is deployed at national keypoint, OR Tambo International Airport.

He has 24 years of experience as a metro police officer.

The other new appointee promoted from chief superintendent to a deputy director post was Nomawethu Patience Mafa.

Mafa started her career in law enforcement in Edenvale as a traffic warden in 1998 and obtained her metro police diploma in 2000.

She was promoted to an inspector in 2004 then to a superintendent in 2009.

She worked herself up to a chief superintendent position in 2014 until her deputy director position in June.

Mafa was the precinct commander of Benoni.

In her new post she will be deployed at the EMPD Regional Office Operations in Springs.

She has 21 years of service at the EMPD.
