Grab a bunny chow at Rest-a-While and help the centre raise funds while doing so

Rest-a-While’s bunny chow fund-raising event receives a great boost from Mamba Security and Red Bin Brigade.

Mamba Security and Red Bin Brigade Primrose donated 30kg of lamb chops to Rest-a-While Service Centre for the Elderly on Friday.

The donation will help in the centre’s bunny chow fund-raiser to be held on July 13.

Rest-a-While member Shirley Maharaj, who has a passion for cooking and a love for Durban-style curry bunny chows, has been entrusted with cooking the meals for the day.

“We have not received our government subsidy for three months and are slowly running out of resources,” said centre manager Trudy Carreira.

“Through this fund-raiser, we hope to raise enough funds to sustain our members for the coming months.

“Having Shirley, a true Durbanite, committed to teaching us all how to make bunny chows and helping us raise much-needed funds is fantastic news and means we can achieve our goal.”

Trudy thanked Meat World Meadowdale, Mamba Security and Red Bin Brigade Primrose for their sponsorship.

The community is encouraged to donation non-perishable food to the centre to help them sustain their members during this difficult time.
