Following a meeting with the HOD for Energy Mark Wilson, Ward 39 councillor Alta de Beer, has announced that power to most of the affected areas in Germiston should have been restored.

“Power to most of the affected areas should of been restored,” said de Beer.
“If residents are still without power they are advised to first check their home distribution boxes (DBs) for any trips before logging a new call with the metro’s call-taking centre.”
De Beer urged all residents and businesses to keep the load balanced during the two peak periods daily (namely 7am to 9am and 4pm to 7pm) by implementing energy saving measures.

Residents of Elsburg, however, will have to wait a bit longer for power as metro technicians work on a cable fault in the area.
“Elsburg’s power outage has been cause by a cable fault in the area,” said de Beer.
“A team is working on the fault and power should be restored later today.”
De Beer further stated that plans to stablise the power grid would be shared soon.
