Man attempts to flee, cornered by police

Primrose police apprehended a man on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

A 32-year-old man was arrested by the Primrose police recently on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

The arrest was made while officers were on patrol in Main Reef Road.

“Officers noticed the accused walking along Main Reef Road carrying two plastic bags,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“When he saw the police he attempted to flee, but was soon cornered.”

He and the plastic bags he was carrying were searched.

“During the search, police found different plates, cups and bowls.

“When asked for proof of purchase he was allegedly unable to provide this,” said Maome.

He was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station.

The accused has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
