Young girls moulded into future vibrant economy contributors

An all-woman company in Driehoek, Women Power Logistics, inspires young girls to join the road freight operations industry.

Women Power Logistics was proud to host two learners from Amos Maphanga Secondary School in Emaphupheni in Benoni at their Driehoek offices last Friday.

The company was established in 2011 by a group of women with vast knowledge and experience in road freight operations.

It came as no surprise that an all-woman company would jump at the opportunity to introduce young girls to their industry, and prove that women can be big players in previously male-dominated industries, as their contribution to the Take a Girl Child to Work campaign.

The campaign allows girl learners to experience a day in the professional workplace, showcasing a variety of career opportunities.

Sphesihle Mabaso, administrator at Women Power Logistics, handed over a certificate of participation to Lebogang Motlala (a Grade 11 learner from Amos Maphanga Secondary School in Emaphupheni, Benoni) for her participation in the organisation’s Take a Girl Child to Work Day programme last Friday.

Grade 10 learner Tidimallo Xaba, from Amos Maphanga Secondary School in Emaphupheni in Benoni, received her certificate of participation from Sphesihle Mabaso (administrator at Women Power Logistics) during the organisation’s Take a Girl Child to Work Day programme last Friday.

“At Women Power Logistics, we are committed to fostering gender equality and empowerment of women through education,” said Sphesihle Mabaso, administrator at Women Power Logistics.

“We decided to partake in this Take a Girl Child to Work campaign because we want to contribute towards the development of strong, smart and bold girls, and empower them to be a calibre of women who will in the future, become vibrant contributors to the economy and leading job creators in our country.”
