Bullying in the spotlight at Laerskool Oosterkruin Primary

Learners are saying no to bullies and bullying in their school.

Laerskool Oosterkruin Primary held an Anti-Bullying Week from May 20 to 24.

The week started with an assembly on the Monday for Grade One to Three learners and one on the Tuesday for the Grade Four to Seven learners, with Rev Wimpie van Schoor from the Nederduits Hervormde Kerk Primrose-Oos.

Rev Wimpie told the children about bullying from a Bible perspective.

All the learners also took part in an anti-bullying pledge.

There was then much anticipation as banners were coloured and created for the march against bullies around the school, which took place last Friday.

But before that on the Thursday, Production 200 performed at the school, focusing on bullies, such as cyberbullies, and teaching the children about being thankful for everything they have.

The day for the big march dawned and the children marched around the school to let the community know that they don’t like bullies at their school.

The children recited the following anti-bullying pledge:

“I will not use my hands for hitting or my words for hurting others.

“I will use them only for helping.”

The school believes that every child matters.
