Train fire swiftly dealt with in Dinwiddie, no injuries reported

Prasa has confirmed there was a train fire in Dinwiddie this morning (Tuesday).

Lillian Mofokeng, senior manager: marketing and communications for Gauteng Metrorail and Passenger Agency of South Africa (Prasa) has confirmed that there was a train fire in Studland Avenue, Dinwiddie, this morning (Tuesday).

She told the GCN the fire was caused due to a rolling stock technical fault at Union Station.

“There were no injuries and commuters were transported via shuttle buses around the affected areas,” said Mofokeng.

“The line was reopened at 9.01am and the train service is now running as normal.”
