Continued support helps local school

Primrose High School shares their gratitude for Bedfordview-based Jurgens Bekker Attorneys and their continued support.

“We became aware of the wonderful job Primrose High School is doing in educating and offering leadership to their learners and this is why we singled them out.”

These are the words of Jurgens Bekker from Bedfordview-based Jurgens Bekker Attorneys, who have been sponsoring the school for four years, when he and his team visited the school last Tuesday.

The company recently sponsored the school with new kits for its rugby and netball teams.

“In addition to this, we also try to give support to the school when they have events. We have previously sponsored bottled water and such things,” said Jurgens.

“They really are doing wonderful things at the school.”

During the team’s visit to the school, they had a chance to see some of the learners in their sponsored kits.

Matric learners Owen Mupfumisi, Mohau Marwane and Brighton Kudehama are all players in the school’s first rugby team.

Primrose High School’s first team rugby players Owen Mupfumisi, Mohau Marwane and Brighton Kudehama share what they love about the sport.

They have all been playing rugby since Grade Eight and are passionate about the game and describe it as their happy place.

The boys are looking to win this year’s league, which starts later in the year.

“We are determined to win because it is our last year,” they said in unison.

Owen plays flanker.

“I love how involved I am in the game, I am right in the middle of the action,” he said.

Mohau plays full back.

“I would describe my position as relaxed, but it requires a lot of concentration.

“I feel like I carry the vision of the team,” he said.

Brighton plays lock.

“My job is to always be where the ball is and I love the adrenaline that comes with making and being tackled,” he said.

Sibongile Mzizi, Lungile Juma and Mbali Mahlangu showed off the school’s netball kits for the u-15, u-17 and first teams.

The trio agree they have always loved netball and have been playing since they were in primary school.

“I love playing netball, not only because I love the sport and it helps me keep fit, but also because it teaches me how to deal with tough situations and work in a team,” said Sibongile.

Both Sibongile and Mbali play defence positions and agree that they love the position because of the responsibility.

“The team really depends on me to stop the opposition from scoring,” said Mbali.

Lungile plays centre, which she describes as the running position.

“I help everyone on my team and enjoy being in the action,” she said.

When asked if Jurgens Bekker Attorneys has any projects in the pipeline with the school, Jurgens explained that they plan to brand the sports fields and make further improvements to the school.

School principal André Grobler is grateful for all the support the company has given the school.
