Update: Family found not guilty of assault

Court case following a brawl that took place outside a local primary school finalised.

In an article published on April 6, 2018, the GCN stated that two teenage boys, aged 16, were allegedly assaulted by two adults outside Sunnyridge Primary School.

The Primrose police confirmed they were investigating a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Two suspects were arrested and they appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on March 19.

The case was postponed to April 26 for further investigation.

The accused, Kellyann and Rafael Daniel, denied all charges against them, claiming they were retaliating after being attacked.

The case was postponed numerous times until it was finalised earlier this year on February 21.

Magistrate S Isaacs found the accused not guilty on all counts.

Speaking to the GCN, the Daniel family expressed their relief over the verdict and stated it proved they were innocent all along.

The family has allegedly laid counter charges of assault against the boys.

Earl Wesson, father of Brandon, told the GCN they were disappointed with the verdict and their son continues to suffer from severe headaches since the incident.
