Community enjoys special Easter treat

K9 Allsorts Grooming Parlour aimed to make Easter special.

A dedicated team from Primrose-based K9 Allsorts Grooming Parlour spent the Saturday before Easter handing out delicious Easter eggs.

The project, launched in 2018 by parlour owner, Mandy Brown, saw the team visiting several different old age homes and children’s homes in Germiston, with the help of the parlour’s mascot, Kirsty the Hound.

“The Easter eggs were donated to the project by the community after I sent out a WhatsApp message on several WhatsApp groups,” explained Mandy.

Kirsty the Hound gives an elderly Elandsvallei Home for the Aged a big hug during K9 Allsorts Grooming Parlour’s visit to the home.

Residents of Elandsvallei Home for the Aged, El-Shammah Home For Abandoned Babies, Prim Villa Frail Care, Solheim Retirement Home, Rest-a-While Service Centre for the Elderly, Germiston Association for the Aged and Cora Erasmus Old Age Home all received a visit from the team as did a few Boksburg homes.

“We managed to visit all the homes in the area,” said Mandy.

“We also managed to visit Witfield Retirement Village and Jubilee Place of Safety and Detention in Boksburg.”

“It really was a very busy and heart-warming day.”

Mandy plans to hold the event again next year.

“This will definitely be a yearly project and it is very dear to my heart,” she said.
