Restoration time pushed back once again

Metro technicians continue to work to restore power after alleged cable theft.

Many Germiston’s  suburbs were left in the dark following the alleged theft of power cables in Knights Road.

Metro technicians began work to replace the stolen cables and restore power to the effected areas.

“Power was restored to a number of affected areas but Tedstoneville and parts of Elsburg road still remained without power,” said Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan.

Due to unforeseen circumstances other areas began to loose power and by this morning (Friday) Tedstoneville, and parts of Elsburg, Lambton, Germiston South, Primrose, Primrose Hill, Wychwood, Malvern East and Germiston South Industries were all without power.

“It is not known at this stage if all the power outages stem from the stolen cables,” said Morgan.

“Technicians estimate that power will be restored in four hours but this can change.”
