Successes during Operation Paseka

Katlehong police arrested 20 suspects during several weekend operations.

It was a busy weekend for the Katlehong police as Operation Paseka continued.

The operation was launched before the Easter holidays.

Officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit and detectives from the Katlehong Police Station arrested 20 suspects during a number of different operations held in the area between April 26 and 28.

The accused were arrested for a number of different offences.

Charges included:

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 2

• Malicious damage to property: 2

• Intimidation: 1

• Common assault: 1

• Interference with police duties: 1

• Driving under the influence of alcohol: 13

Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Sammy Thambo thanked everyone who contributed to the successful arrests.

He further encouraged the Katlehong community to come together and work with the police in the fight against crime.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
