Several Germiston suburbs without due to alleged cable theft

Metro technicians work to restore power after alleged cable theft.

Germiston’s power woes continued this morning when several suburbs were left in the dark following the alleged theft of power cables in Knights Road.

“Power has since been restored to a number of affected areas but Tedstoneville and parts of Elsburg road are still without power,” said Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan.

“The biggest problem when dealing with cable thefts is that people are still willing to buy the stolen cables, which cost a lot to replace.”

No turnaround time has been given for power restoration.
