Stop-and-search yields results

Katlehong SAPS arrest 12 suspects in daily stop-and-search operation.

Officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, with help from detectives from the Katlehong Police Station, arrested 12 suspects, last Monday.

The arrests were made during a stop-and-search operation.

The accused were arrested for various offences.

Charges included:

• Attempted murder: 1

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 3

• Common robbery: 1

• Common assault: 1

• Theft: 1

• Crimean injuria: 1

• Dealing in drugs: 1

• Driving under the influence of alcohol: 2

• Warrant of arrest: 1

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for a number of different reasons.

Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Sammy Tambo appealed to the community to come forward and report crime as soon as it happens.

Police will continue to host similar operations in the area.
