School organises special birthday celebration for their beloved principal
Dinwiddie Primary School helped their principal, Gail du Preez, celebrate a milestone birthday last Friday.
Dinwiddie Primary School’s principal, Gail du Preez (in the middle), enjoyed a lovely surprise birthday celebration at her school last Friday, one which was kept a secret by even her two children, Stephen and Natalie du Preez, who made an appearance at the school on the day. Back are: Chris van der Walt and Eugene Pretorius (deputy principal of the school).
The staff at Dinwiddie Primary School, together with the learners stealthily put together a surprise birthday celebration for their principal, Gail du Preez, last Friday.
The surprise 60th birthday celebration was scheduled a day before Gail’s birthday, giving her the perfect kick-start to her milestone birthday.
The children learnt a special happy birthday song, which they sang to a completely surprised Gail as she was ushered onto the school’s sports field.
An even bigger surprise was when Gail found out her children Stephen and Natalie du Preez were in on the surprise too.
Gail joined Dinwiddie Primary in 1987 as a teacher.
In 1993 she took up the post of head of department of the senior phase at the school, and in July 1997 Gail was promoted to deputy principal.
In January 2010 she was promoted to principal of the school.
“We are proud to have Gail as our principal, and wish her everything of the best for her 60th birthday,” said Adele Mostert, IT champion at Dinwiddie Primary School.
“A special thank you to Brandon Sweetnam from Food Lover’s Market, situated at The Reef Shopping Centre, for baking a beautiful and tasty birthday cake for us.”
