“During police interviews, it was reported that two of the vehicles’ drivers had gotten into an argument while in the drive-through queue at a local restaurant,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“It is alleged that when the one driver left the queue he discharged his firearm, hitting a bystander in the lower body.

“As he allegedly attempted to flee the scene the other driver chased after him and this allegedly caused the accident.”

Both men were arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.

“The first suspect was arrested on a charge of attempted murder and discharging of a firearm in a public area, while the second was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless and negligent driving,” said Maome.

Both men appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where the case was postponed for plea and trial.
