Two arrested, one escapes following armed robbery

Primrose police arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery in Primrose, while one suspect remains at large.

Primrose police arrested two men, aged 24 and 29 respectively, on a charge of robbery with a weapon other than a firearm, last Monday.

The men were linked to an armed robbery that took place in Primrose on March 7.

“The complainant alleged that he was in Rietfontein Road at about 2am when the three men approached him and asked if he had a lighter,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“He was still inside his vehicle when one of the men allegedly grabbed his cellphone and ran away.

“He tried to chase after him, but before he could he claims he was stabbed in the upper body with a sharp object by the remaining two suspects before they took R3 500 in cash from him and fled the scene.”

The victim sustained serious injuries and needed medical attention.

The two arrested suspects will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police continue to search for the remaining suspect.
