The three most dangerous snakes on the East Rand

The warm weather means snakes will now be up and about after a long period of hibernation, hungry and in search of food. From mid-August until late May it is snake season.

EMPD officers arrest late bridegroom allegedly speeding to his wedding

A bridegroom claiming to be late for his wedding was among five alleged speedsters arrested by the EMPD High-Speed Unit, recently. The 24-year-old man, driving a Ford SUV, was stopped at 9.34am and arrested.

Firefighter shot while responding to call in Dukathole

An on-duty firefighter sustained injuries after being shot while attending to an injured patient in Dukathole, recently. Rescue crews from Germiston Central Fire Station received a call at 9.30pm and upon their arrival in Dukathole, a man was found lying in the road.

High visibility patrols continue to clean up Germiston CBD

EMPD officers are continuing with periodic special operations in pre-identified locations in Germiston CBD. The focus is particularly on the streets around the Germiston Theatre where by-laws are being contravened by people, and businesses set up braai stands on pavements.

The NSPCA has compiled a list of helpful tips to help make the trip to your holiday destination easier for you and your pets. “It is always stressful to travel with your pet, but these tips will help make the trip easier for you,” the NSPCA said.
