A raid on a suspected drug dealer’s house in Primrose by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit, at 5.15pm on Tuesday, resulted in a huge ammunition discovery.
The officers discovered a stolen 6.35 Melion pistol, a gas pistol, 11 different magazines and over 349 live rounds of ammunition for various firearms, including an R5 rifle and a .22 rifle, in the house in Violet Street.
Ammunition for the following firearms was found: a .223 Rem, a 9mm, a .45 ACP, a shotgun, a .40 S&W, a .38 SPL revolver, a 6.35, a .22 rifle and a .22 Magnum.
The 6.35 Melion pistol, with its serial number still intact, is believed to have been stolen in Edenvale in September 1994.
A 52-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm and unlicensed ammunition.
He was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
