Stop-and-search yields results

Katlehong SAPS targets criminals during stop-and-search operation, last Tuesday.

The Katlehong police continued their efforts to curb crime in the area with a stop-and-search, last Tuesday.

The operation was conducted by officers from the station’s Crime Prevention Unit and Visible Policing Unit and detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and led to the arrest of nine suspects.

The accused were arrested for various offences.

Crimes included:

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 4

• House break-in and theft: 2

• Theft: 1

• Possession of and dealing in drugs: 2

“The strategy applied by our officers is close the case as quickly as possible,” said Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Doctor Sibuyi.

He further encouraged the community to come forward with information and to report crimes in their area.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
