Owner of truck business in Tedstoneville allegedly ignores verbal warning by EMPD

Business owner set to allegedly face serious repercussions after allegedly ignoring a verbal warning by the EMPD regarding noise complaints.

The GCN recently received reports from a Tedstoneville resident complaining about the inconvenience caused by a neighbour who allegedly operates a truck business on their residential premises.

Concerned that the truck business is causing health issues for surrounding neighbours, as fumes fill the air daily, the complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed to have previously contacted the EMPD about the issues, as well as the noise issue and no stern action was taken.

“They have visited the area after we lodged noise complaints as the loud noise coming from that business causes a raucous in our area at around 2am in the morning on a daily basis, scaring our dogs and causing us sleepless nights,” said the resident.

“The owner of the business also keeps diesel on their property.

“All of this is unacceptable, as this is a residential area.”

The GCN contacted the EMPD for comment and Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer, said, “Our Germiston precinct officers visited the place in question recently, and the owner of the building was given a verbal warning.

“He was requested to attend to his noisy trucks before March 4.

“We will monitor the place in intervals going forward.”

Furthermore, according to Mokheseng, the EMPD is currently in the process of applying plan B, which could result in issuing the homeowner a written notice with hefty and binding contents.

This after the officers returned to the said address on March 4, only to find the verbal warning previously given had been ignored by the homeowner.
